Blog – The Quilt Merchant

Welcome everyone,

It has taken a while but I’ve decided that it’s time for me to join the technological age and start a blog. If I’m honest it took some serious nagging from my business partner, Roy Joseph!

Like many quilters, quilting is a passion for me and over the years I have made many many quilts. My first love was scrap quilts – the more scraps the better. However, in the last couple of years I have developed a real passion for machine applique. I have not deserted my scrap quilts but I intend to give any new ones an applique twist.

I have some exciting news, The Quilt Merchant now carries the full range of Flip la K© templates. These templates are designed by Brenda Burgess (Australian designed and made) and are totally unique and fun to make.

As I am making a sample of each one there are only about eight up on the website so please check back regularly as the other templates will be uploaded as and when they are ready.

I will continue to design more of my applique quilts – using old patterns, modern fabrics and making the size larger so they are easier to applique. The problem I have is that as I finish one quilt the next one is on paper and there many others buzzing around in my head!

By the end of the year I will also have my App le K© pre-cut fused shapes up and running. These packs will include all the shapes necessary to complete the block, the size and some tips for machine applique.

The Quilt Merchant will be trading at some shows in 2013 – I will post the dates when I have them.

If you have any suggestions about what you would like to see included in my blog, I would love to hear from you so please contact me at jane@thequiltmerchant.com.au

Stitch on,

Jane Morgan
